Paccanelli at the helm of EURATEX
13/6/2019
Alberto Paccanelli - Chief Executive Officer of Martinelli Ginetto Group - was appointed President of EURATEX, the European Apparel and Textile Confederation on June 13 in Brussels.
With his appointment, ITALY, a country which accounts for 26-27% of total textile production in Europe, is heading this prestigious confederation, which represents globally a total of 171,000 companies and 1.7 million workers.
During the ceremony, Paccanelli clearly laid out four priorities that the Italian and European textile industries need to address over the next years.
First and foremost, business policy: Free and Fair Trade Practices that, by means of bilateral and multilateral agreements, will facilitate the introduction of European products into foreign markets.
Second, support for Innovation, including Digital Transformation and Industry 4.0 to increase the competitiveness of many different supply chains.
The Confederation needs to also work hard to promote Training and Skills Development, both by training human resources already employed in the industry and by attracting new, young talents.
Last but not least, Sustainability, which is tied to the issue of a circular economy. Easy to say but to be implemented by degrees, given the investments required. This is why EURATEX is committed to supporting companies, especially SMEs (Small to Medium Enterprises), during this inevitable but delicate transition process.
